It's Giveaway Day! - CLOSED

I've been sewing for two years now.  And I have been given so much.
I was given my first sewing machine from my mother,
and my next sewing machine from my mother-in-law.
I have been given ridiculous amounts of fabric from friends,
and buttons, zippers, and notions galore.

I've participated in SewMamaSew's Giveaway Day twice now,
but this is the first time I've given anything, and I'm super excited!

I'm giving away over a yard of this adorable cotton snowman fabric,
plus a red zipper and some white ric-rac for fun.
And maybe a few other little things, because I have been a winner before,
and it is fun to get surprises!

To enter, just leave a blog comment,
How long have you been sewing?
What would you make with this fabric?
What was the best prize you won?
What are you excited to give away this Christmas?
Share a favorite recipe!
Answer any question, or come up with your own.
One comment per person, open to anyone, anywhere!

Giveaway open until midnight, Sunday December 13th.
Winner will be announced by next Wednesday.
Good luck!

And while you are at it, you could win a pencil portrait
on my other blog: Mindy Creates
And be sure to enter lots more giveaways on SewMamaSew!

I have been sewing for a bout 3 years now and am completely self taught. The first thing I ever made was a dresden plate tote bag from a kit. I love to read blogs for inspiration and also to get tips and ideas. Thank you for a fun giveaway. x

I have been quilting off and on for 11 years and sewing kids' clothes for 5. My daughter would love a dress or twirly skirt from that fabric!

Thanks for a fun giveaway! That fabric is precious. I've been sewing for... 10 years I think but didn't really get into it until the last 2 years. If I were to win the fabric I would either make a hour basket to keep the Christmas decorations in and take out each year and, with some leftover, maybe a fun zipper pouch to be festive on the go :)

Been quilting since 1994. It took me 2 years to finish a cat quilt done in black and white on a gray background. The gray fabric was put on hold while a quilting store tried to find more for me. When it was done, I was told to enter the quilt into our fair by the lady who quilted it for me. The quilt took the lst place ribbon. That was the bestest prize ever - for me. The snowman fabric is to die for. Maybe making a tote bag with the red zipper and the ric rack would be so cute. Thank you for being a part of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway. Happy Holidays to you.

Did a few projects in school, then more in 1989 when son was born, now again for a few years. Really maybe three years of experience.
A pillow for my DS and DIL is what I would make!
Best prize was a trip to NYC that my mom won from the popcycle company - she entered for me in around 1958.
I'm hoping to figure out how to finish up pillow for my DS and DIL.
A fun dish I saw at a party last weekend was simply a plate with little bowl for dipping sauce in the middle, then she surrounded that with sugar snap peas and added a few tiny tomatoes to create the effect of a wreath.
I can't see how to click to follow your blog, but will try to remember to return!
Thanks for the chance.

What cute snowman fabric! I've had a needle in my hand since I was about 5 or 6 years old when I started making clothes for my Barbie doll.

The best prize I ever won was a sewing machine from Joanne Fabrics. It was a Mother's Day raffle in 1986 when I was pregnant with my 2nd child and was in the store buying fabric to make maternity clothes. (Talk about synchronicity!) The best part was that I didn't need a new sewing machine so I gave it to my sister, who had donated one of her kidneys to me a few years before, which allowed me 1) to live; and 2) to have a second child. It made me SO happy to be able to give it to her!!! It obviously wasn't an even trade for the kidney. :-)
Thank you for participating in the giveaway!

Who doesn't love a snowman! I really need to make a winter/ Christmas bag as all my sewing friends always seem to have them and my shop hop bag is looking worst for wear. Well I love surprises and I can't say I have won anything yet but I am always hopeful. I love to give and that is what the season is about. I formed a small sewing circle (3of us) and we just donated 240 placemats to our local Meals on Wheels program. I love to do some good with my love of sewing.

My one sewing friend loves snowmen, so I would make something for her with the fabric!! thanks!

Unknown said...

The snowmen are so cute! I love Christmas fabric - but don't have much ... if I added the snowmen, I could make a lap throw. I learned to sew while in High School (35+ years ago) and I firmly believe if you love someone and want to let them know how much, you make them something... not buy something. I have been doing home made Christmas with my children since they were small- and they are young adults now, we still do it! Because of that, my girls know how to sew, knit, crochet, cook, decorate cakes, and recently, both have started quilting. It would be lovely if, while they are both here, I could show them how the lap quilt comes together and gets finished. thanks for the giveaway and Happy Holidays to you!

I've been sewing for more than forty years -- everything from garments to quilts to cloth doll making and all kinds of stitchery and crafting projects. I'm collecting charms and bits and pieces of Christmas fabric to make a postage stamp type (not 1" squares, for sure -- bigger) as a winter snuggle quilt and this fabric would fit right in. One other possibility is a holiday pillowcase. I think I'd still have some left for my snuggle quilt.

5 or so years ago, I had just started piecing quilts and really getting into the machine quilting scene, out of the blue I received the entire line of Andover Dimples fat Quarters. I don't remember what giveaway I entered, but I have used that collection in many, many quilts as a color in the stack was always a perfect blender. I am finishing 2 bedsize quilts of 6" 9 patches using only the dimple fabric and it will be gone. What a great gift it has been, Dimples has fueled my quilting journey.

So many good questions! I have been sewing as long as I can remember. My first sewing memory is sitting on my mom's lap while "we" made doll clothes. My first sewing machine was my grandmother's old Singer. I honestly don't know what I'd make with the fabric -- it would probably wait until next year. Maybe bags, or ornaments, or pillow cases. I sew as many presents as possible, buying very few, so it would eventually turn into something! Right now I'm sewing doll clothes. Thanks for the giveaway! sarah@forrussia.org
